Ben Hjort

A MEGA-trained gymnast making his mark at Temple University.

Ben Hjort’s gymnastics journey—one rooted in dedication, resilience, and passion—took an exciting leap when he transitioned from club competition to NCAA collegiate gymnastics at Temple University.

A Gymnast Through and Through

Ben grew up training at Massachusetts Elite Gymnastics Academy (MEGA), where he developed the technical skills and competitive fire that would carry him beyond the local and regional levels. During his junior gymnastics years, Ben competed at national-level events, including the 2022 Men’s Development Nationals where he posted strong all-around and vault results while representing MEGA.

Joining the Owls

Ben’s talent and drive earned him a spot on the Temple University Men’s Gymnastics team as a freshman, where he continued his academic and athletic career. Now a senior and serving as one of the team’s tri-captains, Ben majors in Exercise and Sport Science while balancing the rigorous responsibilities of being a student-athlete and team leader.

At Temple, Ben wears #56 and has become a key contributor both in training and competition. Throughout his time with the Owls, he’s consistently shown growth and excellence on his events, earning recognition in team media for standout routines, including an event title performance celebrated on the program’s social channels.

Beyond the Mat

Ben’s involvement at Temple extends beyond competition. He has spent semesters learning and contributing as an intern in strength and conditioning settings, gaining real-world experience in athletic performance and training. This kind of work enriches both his academic focus and his understanding of the athletic environment from multiple angles.

Representing Temple Athletics

Temple Men’s Gymnastics is one of the longstanding collegiate men’s programs, competing nationally and building a strong community of athletes who balance academics, sport, and leadership. As a tri-captain, Ben exemplifies the qualities of commitment and perseverance that the program values, helping to mentor younger gymnasts and contribute to team culture.
